The big question is; what and who is next for Conor McGregor after the crushing defeat to Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
Frank Edgar; who knocked out Chad Mendes the night before McGregor finished Jose Aldo in 13 seconds and now the “The Answer” has set his sights on the “The Notorious One” after his defeat to Diaz at Welterweight level.
After losing the match to Diaz; McGregor made no qualms about dropping back to featherweight to defend his title for the first time since defeating Aldo in December.
It is thought that McGregor will face Aldo in a rematch after the former Featherweight Champion’s Instagram post following McGregor’s first defeat in UFC.
However, despite Edgar’s win against Mendes, McGregor decided to go up a weight division in the hope to become a double champion against Rafael dos Anjos but the Brazilian decided to pull out with a 11 days notice.
Frank Edgar decided to call out McGregor ahead of the expected defence back at Featherweight.
“If he’s got balls, he’ll pick me. It’s easier to go in there and fight a guy you know you handled, you know you beat,” Edgar said in an interview with ESPN. “But if he wants to come back after that loss to Nate and prove the doubters wrong, silence these rumblings about his ground game? He’ll fight me.”
“If he beats me, no one can say anything. That would almost erase the loss to Nate.”
